Priorities in Africa

In 1967 Cardinal Paul-Émile Léger began his first mission for human dignity in Cameroon, which over the years grew to include the development of clinics, hospitals, schools and orphanages in several countries across Africa. Today, the LÉGER FOUNDATION continues its focus in Africa to ensure food security, economic development, and strengthening the capacities of our partners in order to meet the needs of this continent’s most vulnerable populations.


  • Provide communities with agricultural tools and equipment, as well as commercial assistance to bring farm products to market.
  • Offer technical assistance and teach specialized technologies.
  • Promote citizen engagement, with a focus on women’s roles in local initiatives.
  • Support the integration of marginalized youth into community projects.
  • Build institutional and organizational capacity for partners on the ground.
